Should you lower your credit card limit (chase)?
« on: April 07, 2019, 12:23:04 AM »
Been reading mixed views on this so wanted to open it up to everyone.

Is it recommended to lower credit card limits for chase if your limit is high and your not coming close to it even? I hear it makes getting auto approved much easier, decreases chances of getting your accounts reviewed, and opens you up to less scrutiny.

What are people’s thoughts on this? Have you done it?

Having higher credit limit means that your utilization percentage would be lower which raises your credit score.
On the other hand if you plan on applying for more chase cards they do have a maximum amount of credit they are willing to extend you. If you are at the limit you may get declined but you can often call to move around your credit lines and get approved.

Don't forget the restriction imposed by the CARD Act: Banks can not charge you an annual fee exceeding 25% of the CL....................

Amex plat cards are charge cards without CL's.
