I just got this email from Capitalone:
Quote

   RE: Account ending in xxxx

lfas25,

We recently noticed potentially suspicious activity on your MASTERCARD PLATINUM account ending in xxxx, and need to confirm that you authorized all of these charges. Please call Customer Fraud Protection as soon as possible at 800-427-9428.

If you are calling from outside the United States, the best way to reach us is by an operator-assisted collect call and Capital One® will accept the charges.

•   Connect with a live international operator
•   Tell the operator you are calling the U.S. collect
•   Provide our number (00+1+804-934-2001) to the operator
•   Give your name as “Capital One Customer” when prompted

If you have access to the Internet, you can look up how to call internationally from your specific location.

We would like to address this suspicious activity as soon as possible to protect your account. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Capital One
Fraud Protection Division

P.S. If you have already contacted us, thank you. There is no need to call again.

Apparently someone tried using this card at walmart for $200+ and for some reason they flagged it :) I logged into my account an saw an authorization from groupon.

This is the 2nd card this happened to with me in the past week or so....
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals

OK here we go again, this time multiple charges on my starwood card which is an au on my wife's card. There was a suggestion I was getting skimmed with the other cards , but this one I havent used in a few months and it is in my drawer.

I actually got a call from Walmart checking a charge before the call from Amex.

If someone had access to my online Amex account, could they get the number off of it? Amex lists only the last 6 digits or so.

So they ordered something from newegg and had it shipped to my home. I don't get why someone would do that if they dont get anything from it.

SPG/AMEX Fraud
« Reply #107 on: May 09, 2013, 10:36:12 PM »
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing fraud on their cards. Out of all of our cards I have fraudulant charges on 5 spg/amex cards! Nor citibank cards or any others. In fact, even cards that have only been used to gain original bonus miles and then put away and not used again! Amex is habdling the fraud charges. i called SPG to see if anyone may have hacked their database and they said there's no report of it. Am I the only one? Anyone else out there?

Now I'm up to fraud on three personal SPG AMEX cards and one buisness. What a headache!

Just had a fraudulent charge on my card.
I believe there has been some serious security breach somewhere.
I know too many people who had fraudulent activity on their cards in the past few weeks.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

I sm'ed Amex that I have it and they should tell me what to do with it. I have a feeling that they will not ask me to send it to them.

Haven't had it in a few years.

received a text message from Chase today confirming a charge at a fast food restaurant which was not me...

logged online and someone charged:
    05/27/2013       Pending    BRAUMS #84       $8.10
   05/27/2013       Pending    TACO BUENO #3030       $10.79
   05/27/2013       Pending    THE HOME DEPOT #8438       $28.00

All these locations are in TX. My wife and i both have our cards in our possession. How could someone swipe it in store if they dont have the card?

Its easy to make a new card with a magnetic strip.

Just got a brand new cc in the mail today when I tried swiping it didn't work. Chase said they canceled the card because of fraud and they already sent me a new one.
