I once heard that a guy didn't report his card stolen because the crook was spending less than his wife!
From in the envelope? During delivery?
Its easy to make a new card with a magnetic strip. Just got a brand new cc in the mail today when I tried swiping it didn't work. Chase said they canceled the card because of fraud and they already sent me a new one.
Just had today about $1500 in fraud charges till amex put a block,I'm not sure how they pulled it off.. possibly they cloned it.Will this have any impact on my relationship with amex?
yes its real easy. i work in a business that we print plastic cards/credit cards. if you can obtain someones card by swiping it and saving the swipe info you can print a new card with the chase logo and info and encode with the same info on the mag strip as the real card. emboss their name and number and expiration date. and then use in it any store. i have tried this with one of my personal cards and used it at a Walmart. then shredded it after.
You're not responsible for fraudulent charges, shouldn't have any adverse affect on your relationship with Amex.Might be easy, but I wouldn't try it at home as it's highly illegal...
I was just thinking this morning how I never had a single fraud charge on any of my accounts. Then I get home and there's the email waiting for me, $144 charge from dish network on a card that all I ever used it for was with serve and ap, with the last time used back in Jan.
+1 same here never had then just yesterday out of the blue came a couple fraudulent charges.
