Will El-Al do a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale this year?
« on: November 25, 2019, 09:38:30 AM »
Usually ELAL will do a sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but I am wondering if the sale earlier this month might have been the substitute. Hoping not since I need to book a flight for one of my kids at the end of next month...

Noticed how this year they have had a super aggressive promo for Flycard-only over the past week; we'll be lucky if there are any decent award availability for EXEC when Black friday promo show up

Does that promo definitely not work with Executive status?  I don't have a FC anymore and don't want to transfer 5K MR stam.

The promo is their rebuttal to the new Skymax card introduced last week.

As far as I could tell the promo was only for FC. I was comparing my screen with someone who has one and we weren't getting the same prices for awards.

Yes they are definitely worried about Skymax.

They are launching the new FC tomorrow night in TLV, I'm going to the event. The only thing that leaked so far is that the card will be free for GL and up.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday will have promos on both revenues and award. I'm talking about award.

They do it 2-3 times per year. Black Friday is usually very interesting. But like we said since last week they have been selling 7k promos to FC, so not sure how much additional availability they will have. I guess we will see

The info is already available.  No real new news besides the fee waiver like you mentioned. The Mastercard version and hybrid Diners/Mastercard will be released.  The Mastercard will have a lower FX fee of 1.2% I believe.  Also, a new "Black edition" will be released, but zero difference in benefits over a regular FC Premium.

I know people who have already received the Black card - just gotta be in the right Israeli frequent flyer circles  ;D

You're right.  ;D

To be honest I never really cared about the FC since I don't spend much so I never thought that the monthly 30-40nis were worth it.

But if it's free, and if they start having promos just for FC, then I must have it  :)

Just make sure you demand the black edition.  It's a nice looking card, and I'm assuming it will be limited edition!

Pesach ends April 16, so the return is certainly doable. However since it starts on the night of the 8th you would need to fly out pretty early.
