Eh, at 55K for TLV-NYC, this becomes less of a great deal compared to the various options with airlines that are transfer partners with all/most issuers.  Even Turkish is still at 47K, and FB awards can be had at 50K+, etc.  Too bad...

Pure speculation, but maybe they're planning to jump in with an issuer in the near future and the change stems from an anticipated uptick in point transfers/points on the books?

Knowing my luck, I'll ditch the Barclays Arrival Premier next year and they'll be added as a partner shortly thereafter.

It would definitely be a much-needed fresh unique partner that Chase could use.

avalability can be checked without points in the account. after the initial search it will show you the award calendar but then go to the right side and unclick where it says 30 days, press continue and you will see the results [then you can move from day to day]
