El Al announced on Tuesday that its commercial test of non-stop flights to and from Melbourne will take place in April and May, with a decision on keeping the route expected in a few months, subject to regulatory approvals.
Round trip ticket prices will start at $1,199. Miki Strassburger, El Al Vice President for Commerce and Aviation Relations at El Al said, "The duration of the direct flight to Melbourne is expected to be 16:15 hours, while the return flight, from Melbourne to Ben Gurion Airport, is expected to be 17:45 hours and will be the longest flight without intermediate landing to be made in the history of the Israeli aviation industry."
