This goes over Somalia instead of turning east earlier over the gulf of Aden. That's a small tweak. Other than that I don't see an issue

Maybe they're trying to figure out the ratio of non-Jewish to Jewish demand (and within the Jewish market Shomrei Shabbos to non Shomrei Shabbos) and don't think this can be done other than with actual experience.
