Not everyone reads every post here ;)

I was going to mention to you, I do think this deserves its own thread, especially being time sensitive.

Personally I'd prefer to go with a 50k Platinum offer ($1k spend required) where I also get $200 airline credit this year (2011) and $200 next year (2012), and I don't get hit with a $10k spend requirement.

Anyone disagree?

Good find... now to start my AOR early for this... decisions, decisions.

The question is, can you meet a $10k spending threshold (on top of whatever will be required for your other applications).

ashero- Im about to start a AOR, I dont have a problem with the spend requirement. Should I start with this or wait to do a couple of other (specifically chase cards) first? Also do you have any suggestions how I should deal with the different Chase cards I want?

Why not get both? 125k for $11,000 :P

Personally, I already have the Plat..

It'd be harder, but in 5 months, I could likely pull it off.

It's best IMHO to do them all (various issuers) on one day (within a few hours if possible). This one is a good 'start', though you haven't specified which cards you were looking to hit.

What do you mean by 'deal with the different Chase cards'? Presumably you apply and call recon.

The specifics for your situation are hard to say without knowing what your current credit card portfolio and credit report look like, and what income you're reporting (and what part of that you can prove).

Get both?

11k is pushing it a bit for me, especially because I prefer to put my regular spend on Chase cards ATM.

Why not get both? 125k for $11,000 :P

Personally, I already have the Plat..

You mean for $11k spend. For $11k I'll pass.

It'd be harder, but in 5 months, I could likely pull it off.

Just saying you should factor that into your decision, especially with the other spend requirements.

...AsherO, spread forth your wellspring of deeply rooted knowledge regarding all things AOR and all things holy.

You're oozing with sarcasm :P

Is there a big difference between 60 or 365 days free?

If you want to use it for bonus/rewards, I'd say the answer to your question is a resounding yes.

If you want to use the card for the bonus categories it's quite useful that you have the first year free
