What Credit card did you close?
« on: December 06, 2019, 10:21:21 AM »
I closed my prestige after having it for like 4 years due to them gutting the card

(I actually downgraded to the TYP Premier so I can transfer points) I never got a sign up bonus on that card and hope I did not disqualify myself from getting it in the future (Citi's rules are really complicated these days)

What card did you close and why?

Got the bonus points.  AF came up; why pay anything for the card?  Although it has no foreign exchange fees, I have other cards with that benefit.

AA Platinum Select - not worth the annual fee (not a frequent AA flier) got it before I went to Denver but Southwest ended up being cheaper even after the $200 refund from AA

The expanded award availability was why I was keeping it.

I rent a car maybe once or twice a year, pretty much always in the US. Abroad it's mass transit, bikes, and Uber.

But that is a good reason to keep it.

Personal Delta Card.
(Got it with bonus using a no lifetime language link)
Annual fee was due and I had applied for the Hilton Aspire AF waived and needed to close a card to get below 5 cards with Amex.

Because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

Downgraded Sapphire Preferred to Freedom since AF was due. I had signed up with the 1st year AF waived.

Now have approximately 500,000 MR points between myself and my wife with no premier card to redeem for travel. We have at least one of each of the no AF biz/personal cards.
Not sure which card I should get or upgrade to when I need to redeem for travel.

Considering canning mine as well, esp now that they raised the AF but are removing return protection.
