From a brief glance it seems the airlines are saying they can make things clearer and less confusing for the customer if they're no longer forced to have the total price including all taxes and fees be the most prominently displayed to customer

So they'll post the ticket prices, $150 RT to tlv, and then when you check out you'll see a final bill of $1250?

Yup. Make sure to post a price that will get you nowhere if that's all you have available to pay with exact change.

The reason is - At the direction of President Biden, the White House Chief of Staff issued a Memorandum for the heads of executive departments and agencies to immediately withdraw any rulemaking documents that have been sent to the OFR but not published in the Federal Register, subject to certain exceptions. Accordingly, DOT is withdrawing the ANPRM on Airfare Advertising, which has been sent to the OFR but has not yet published in the Federal Register.
