For the price point (unless Amazon and Walmart want to go at it), you'll probably get more "bang for your buck" w/ a rocking chair as the glider has more parts that move and can break but it's also a different motion. We got a Dutalier glider which I'd recommend but they're more expensive.

Shaker rockers are the best but also expensive. Depending on your taste you could check out Craigslist for rocking chairs (and just get your own cushions if you want padded) as good rocking chairs made of hardwood hold up well and tend to be well maintained
