does anyone have any ideas for  games that can be played with a large group of people that are al different ages at a chanuka party?

You pass this box around making believe that there is a picture inside of someone and while the picked person A asks: does he wear glasses?
The first person on the table looks inside and sees himself and answers accordingly... then passes the picture to next person and picked person A asks his next q - ....

- There are a couple smartphone-based games that can be good, Psych, Heads Up, etc.

- I don't know what it is called, but it's like a mix of broken-telephone and Pictionary:
Everyone starts with a blank sheet of paper and writes a slogan/word/phrase and passes it to the person next to them. The person then folds over the phrase so it can be seen and draws a picture of that phrase, and passes the paper to the next person. The next person folds over the picture and writes the phrase they believe the picture depicts and passes it. Repeat until it goes full circle and sees how it progresses. Usually pretty funny.

- Someone come up with a scene/phrase/word/anything and have the partner hold a paper plate on their head and draw it on the plate with the other hand.

There's a game "Bubble Talk" which is like Apples to Apples but with pictures. Use their word cards but instead of their picture cards, print out an assortment of pictures of people in the family - funny pictures and regular ones too.

So is Codenames. But both won't work for little kids (don't know the age range we're discussing).

Codenames is awesome! But it's for 4 people (8 in a stretch). Perpetual Commotion can work for younger kids than Codenames as well.

Right! 4-6 people is best. I find that codenames works for a bigger range of adults than perpetual commotion, there are people who just can't do the fast moving games.

On that note, I remember Anomia working well in a large group.

One nice thing about Bubble Talk is that you don't need to be able to read to play it (as the leader reads out the card to everyone), so absolutely anyone can play.

Yes, Anomia is great, and for kids too! It can be an issue on this forum with lots of pop culture references, especially for kids. You could try filter out some of those cards before the game, but it is a bit of a pain.

we did bubble talk with about 20, it was lots of fun!
If and Then is also fun and you don't need to buy anything. Everyone gets two pieces of paper, they need to write a sentence where the first half starts with "if" and the second half starts with "then". They write each half on one piece of paper. Then you mix up all the "if"s and all the "then"s and then pull out pairs one at a time and read them out loud.
