El Al vs Air Canada
« on: December 17, 2019, 11:02:39 PM »
Sorry if this is not the right place and for creating a new topic but didn't find a relevant thread anywhere.

How does Air Canada compare with El Al?? I would assume AC staff MAY be more polite and my wife won't have to deal with Israeli attitude? I'd also assume it may be a quieter flight?? Are decent Kosher meals served on AC?? Anything else to know about on either airline- wifi, baggage etc etc? TIA!

In economy? AC is better from what I've heard, no personal experience on either though.

AC does not have WiFi. El Al Dreamliner (787) does (777 doesn't)

AC is retrofitting all their 787s with WiFi and the route often flies with WiFi

Anyway to know before the flight if it will have WiFi? (Does it have to do if the livery is updated or not?)

El Al has free wifi or paid? Anyway they can switch aircraft at any time and I won't have wifi.

The chance of them switching to a non-787 is less than 5% (unless you're flying very soon, because one Dreamliner is out of service due to damage)

Thanks. Flying February. I will check what aircraft the itinerary shows.

Can anyone comment on the overall experience though if it was better on Air Canada vs El Al? Are the planes newer? Mehadrin meals available on Air Canada? Quieter flight on AC? Although my wife is flying from Toronto, so I assume even an El Al flight won't be nearly as noisy as a flight from NY??

Both flights are on the dreamliner. The difference is not likely to be great enough for you to make a decision on that. More likely you should decide based on schedule and price

AC is serving only mehadrin meals,  LY is serving also regular kosher.

Thanks! Does it need to be requested or all food on the YYZ-TLV flight is Mehadrin Kosher?

i booked a friends family of 6 with AC from tlv to nyc and they were extremely satisfied with the service and i called in that their traveling with children and i they gave me preferred seats free of charge for the whole family excellent customer service!

P.S. in comparing to ELAL i have had plenty of friends that had bad experiences while flying elal while i didn"t hear yet any complaints from friends that flew AC.

The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude(:

AC hands down. Flew both and AC was much more pleasant (service and general attitude). I like that there is a snack bar in the back of the plane (not much there but you can help yourself throughout the flight). That being said, I think timing is most important especially if you are flying with a family.

Thanks! I figured the overall experience may just be better on AC since El Al staff can have a very poor attitude at times.

TLV-YYZ usually doesn't require to daven. Mincha just during the winter.
I think there generally is a minyan, though I daven at my seat. They are generally accommodating, as long as people ask first and are respectful
