AA Web Special - Master Thread
« on: December 23, 2019, 05:51:01 AM »
Obviously AA moving toward dynamic overall is a negative. BUT there have been some great deals and it is incumbent on us as a forum to take advantage.
The purpose of this thread is to post the deals you find. It seems that almost all the good deals are unfortunately married segments with an annoying stop.

Ill start;
DFW(or other NA) - HND (via LAX)
20k Y
30k PE
45k J

HT:Monkey Miles

That and the ability to shoot up to ridiculous pricing is precisely the reason AA is doing this.

So you are saying AA does not have any T class available on the flights you need...got it.

I dont know if its Web Special or just dynamic pricing but was looking at some Eurpoean cities to NYC this month and next.

Found ZRH-NYC and AMS-NYC via PHL for 50k-51k in J and 20k-21k in Y on some days

PHL direct "obviously" doesnt come up.

Found some web-special to Maui in May.

Specifically booked JAX-OGG, OGG-JAX for 60k total, roundtrip for 2 people.

Saw similar availability out of TLH, ORD, and DFW

What does it mean when it says "Trips that include a Web Special award cannot be changed once ticketed. You can cancel your trip and reinstate miles, but fees may apply."?

Is there a fee to cancel if I book with points? Or do I just lose my 5.60?

No fee to cancel. Taxes get refunded.

To get your miles back there is a Redeposit Fee, $150 for the first passenger, and $25 for each additional passenger (on the same record locator)

I cancelled one and IIRC I only got my taxes/fees back after paying the redeposit fee.

As per AA rep web special can also be cancelled up to 90 minutes before flight for free.
@menachemd1 pointed out that the T&C only allows 1 free cancelation per booking and the name and AA number needs to match the account...

Quote
Automatic mileage reinstatement
If your trip is eligible, your miles will be automatically reinstated within 48 hours of canceling your trip online. For all other trips, contact Reservations to have your miles reinstated.

Eligible customers / trips must meet these requirements:

The reservation is for a single passenger.
The traveler and the AAdvantage® member whose miles were redeemed are the same.

Last week there was some good F/J for 30k
I personally booked JFK-DFW-OGG J for 30.5k
Also had F via LAX for 30k but I didn't want F for the seating arrangement.
