This is a great strategy, just make sure it is stock held for over 1 year for it to qualify

I believe it is 0.6% on assets held, which is pretty standard / low end for DAFs. Which I don't really mind as the assets in the account are still being invested (low risk) and are making a return higher than that.
At the time I opened it, it was the lowest one I could find. I see now that OJC and The Donors Fund have 0 fees on assets held.

Yes I believe so, but what would be the point?

Ostensibly to avoid capital gains on the stocks while continuing to use your non-Schwab DAF.

Yes, I've given them stock, there are no fees for that.

I would assume that only what you actually give to a tzedaka is counted as maaser.

Not necessarily. If you lose money that was set aside for maaser you don't need to take off maaser again. I can see why this would be different, but IANAR.

Just transferred appreciated shares to TDF. Will then transfer cash I planned to donate back into brokerage. Let's see how this goes.
