Wasn't charged additional baggage fee on award ticket :)

I recently booked an award ticket from Chicago to Delhi (coach) from continental, checked in 2 bags and wasn't charged additional baggage fee. It came as a pleasant surprise as I was expecting a $70 fee. It was on United from Chicago to Frankfurt and Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Delhi.

I did have it about a month back after which I had to get it cancelled to get Freedom approved. But as far as I know Continental credit card doesn't give you the second checked baggage for free.

It only gives you the one, but when I flew a few weeks ago the co agent was complaining how the current system dosen't differentiate elite via chase cc or co elite. She said she had to click through to a different screen to see which elite category I fell under.

So maybe you had an agent who didn't check which elite level you were at?

Was the ticket a SaverPass or EasyPass award? EasyPass (more "affectionately" known as SleazyPass) awards get two free bags, IIRC.
