We "tend to take over" like any other culture who creates a community.  Hispanics make communities with their own Spanish speaking markets and food, as well as their own places of worship.  Blacks stick together in communities throughout the US and make a place of worship nearby.  Jews finds homes in communities with other Jews.  We build our own schools and shuls.  Why should we different from any other community?

That's true, and we deserve that right as much as any other group. That still doesn't mean I blame her for feeling dread that her community will get taken over and she'll be forced to move.

The problem is, is that you can only get away with saying it about the Jews, imagine saying it about any other minority.

Replace “Jews” with “Chinese” or  “blacks” & their shortcomings. She would’ve been shut down & forcibly removed.

Am I the only one that doesn't really hear the anti semitisim here? I kinda here where she was coming from. If I wasn't Jewish and lived in an area like that, I think my heart would sink if I saw people moving in. We do tend to take over

Communities change over time, that’s normal. Making it about race is what promotes racism/hate.

Not quite. Others still utilize the public services of the gov't. Biggest is probably the school system

of course, but that doesnt change the fact that we can understand what she feels. just like noone in monroe or lakewood wants chinese and blacks to take over their neighborhood, even if they arent racist

I dont like it either. However, if there was a black church moving into boro park and the congregants were paying top dollar for housing, we are fooling ourselves if we believe there wouldn't be an uproar.

You're entitled to feel bad and have a sunken heart, but you can't enact zoning and other laws specifically targeting an ethnic group because you don't want to live near Jews.

We're also talking about a single house with a menorah - if every city with a Chabad House led to frum people taking over the neighborhood...

Interesting that in places like Crown Heights you have Jews there for a hundred years or so and wealthy white people moving in complain about Chassidic Jews driving up rent, pushing out blacks, and "taking over" the neighborhood". Seems like we can never win.

First off she’s not only complaining about schools, it’s the whole neighborhood change thing. You telling me various minority groups haven’t completely destroyed neighborhoods they’ve moved into ?

Do you have any idea how many times 911 responds to the public schools a day ?? People are forced to pay for private schools or just relocate due to what the public schools have become.

IINM the laws are specific to changing the zoning. Not saying I agree with it, however, you can apply the same arguements to all the zoning applications in the city and none of it as anything to do with jews (aside from some owning the real estate trying to make the change ).

If you change zoning laws to stop black churches from being built in Borough Park, that's also racist. It would be condemned by every politician, rightly so, and so should this be.

She may or may not be an antisemite, and if she is, she's entitled to be one. What you can't do is enact racist laws. When you change zoning laws to target an ethnic group, that's racist.  The speech is about Jews and how to change zoning laws to block Jews from moving in. It doesn't get more explicit than that. It is textbook antisemitism. Her personal views about Jews don't matter in the slightest.

It blows my mind that you can’t understand that changing zoning laws with the stated goal of preventing a specific ethnic or religious group from moving in is racist/anti-Semitic. I literally can’t think of a better example of textbook racism other than actual physical assault.
