I consider the LAS shooter probably one of the most thought out terrorist act. He had several AR-15's that he converted jam on him thank G-d.
Most of these terrorist never heard of a bump stock.
You need to wonder if his attack would've been any less deadly had he not had easy access to all these guns?
Of course there's no way to know for sure, but I believe it could've ended up being a lot worse.
Let's assume he was dead-set on carrying out an attack but couldn't get all these guns, what other options did he have? To me the most obvious option is for him to have used his plane. (assuming the reports are true that he was a pilot with his own plane(s.)) It seems to me that had he landed a plane in that crowd things probably would've been a lot worse. If someone has resources and is willing to put the time in to prepare, there are many ways to inflict great damage even without guns.
Side point, but I actually think it's likely that mass shooters would probably be generally less deadly if they used full auto instead of semi auto. the most obvious exception is a case like LAS where there's a huge crowd and you basically can't miss, the more bullets you can spit out the deadlier it'll be. (Of course I may be wrong on this, it's just a theory I have based on how difficult it is to fire FA accurately, most bullets don't end up on target.)
