I could make fun of or dismiss some of your suggestions but won't.
Are you in favor of tougher penalties for criminals in general? That is something I would like to see.
The problem is when you give LE more leeway some abuse it. That abuse is mostly directed at minorities.
As for Rudy I am going to guess you want the old version and not the new version.
Cash Bail Reform is the biggest joke out there. Bleeding heart liberals blamed the inability to make bail as a primary cause of minorities staying locked up. So we take away the judges discretion to order bail? The list of crimes that have mandatory ROR is pathetic. Manslaughter? Grand Larceny in the First Degree ($1MM+)? Assault?
The minute the woman who slapped 3 Orthodox women was released, she went out an committed another crime, and was released again. Cash bail reform will take NYC back to the 70's.
Just a reminder of the story I posted in the Prison thread. When I was in Rikers one of my bunkies was being held on an attempted robbery charge. His bail was $2,500. As we were in a working dorm, everyone had a job. He was working suicide watch which paid $156 a week. HE was there over 2 years when I got there because he couldnt save up enough money from work in Jail to bail himself out. Simple math would have had him out on bail in those 2 years. He chose to gamble away his weekly earnings instead of bail himself out. So what kept this idiot locked up? Cash bail?
