some threads literally have turned into some members personal Twitter feed

That has not been my experience. I've seen people posting tweets which they feel are relevant to the topic of discussion in a tgiven thread.

When more than 50% of recent posts are tweets, then it's just twitter - not a discussion.

An example of the type of situation where posting a tweet would have been useful. In this case there was an article available, but I am sure there were tweets with pictures sooner.

At Israeli Day Parade attended by families of American-Israeli hostages, hamas counter-protesters are holding signs “kill hostages now” & “they’re not coming home”.
Savage animals!

There are definitely places where it can be helpful to post a tweet. The problem is when it gets diluted with people's tweets which are basically reactions. Even if each reactionary tweet is so irresistible to post, because they had a good line, etc, it dilutes the news and discussion.
I find myself ignoring any linked tweets unless I can see at least a preview that looks compelling enough to actually open Twitter.

I feel bad about it, but for my sanity I had to add someone who I typically enjoy to the ignore list.

I like their own posts - wish there was a way to just add the tweets to the ignore list.

I voted to leave as is. I can't follow any tweets down the Twitter rabbit hole, nor can I see the entire tweet unless a screenshot is posted. Although I would appreciate screenshots, I don't have a problem with someone not posting them. Personally, I don't even care if people want to post tweets all day (if relevant), and as @Euclid said, there's always ignore (to the detriment of the user, perhaps, but that's a choice you can make).
That's my opinion.  :D
