On which part. They set them up with hotels and two rabbis one chabad, one non chabad are helping out.
"Hi this is Rabbi Feldman of Chabad in Halifax and we welcome you all.
Despite your unexpected circumstances we are in the midst of organizing what will IYH be a memorable and enjoyable (hopefully) Shabbos!"
"Hi,
I'm Yakov Kerzner, the rabbi at Beth Israel Synagogue, the local Orthodox shul.
Were located at 1480 Oxford Street'. (Head west down Spring Garden Road, it turns into Coburg, then turn left at Coburg. We are one door down the street.)
There is also a Chabad at 1171 Waterloo Street. Both are within 20-25 minutes walk from the Lord Nelson Hotel. You must call them to see when and if they are having a minyan.
Bassie Feldman. from Chabad, is organizing the food that is being flown in. The local bakery will supply Challah and cookies. It is under Chabad hashgacha and is pas yisroel.
There is an eruv in town that covers anywhere you would want to walk. It relies on kulot that not everyone would accept.
Beth Israel davens mincha and kabbalat shabbat at 4:35 tonight. Shacharit is at 9 AM and we have a light milchig kiddush/lunch afterwards. Everyone is welcome. Mincha, shalosh seudot and maariv is at 4:45 tomorrow. Our mechitza relies on the shiur of Rav Soloveitchik.
The local Sobey's supermarket on Queen Street has limited kosher products but there is plenty of kosher food, as in any North American supermarket, on the shelves. (There is also a Superstore Supermarket on Barrington Street. Both are about a 20 minute walk from the hotel.
There is also some food products in the Shopper's Drug Mart on Spring garden Road a couple of blocks from the hotel.
Feel free to call or text with any other questions.
Yakov Kerzner"
