What are you talking about?

 Is erasing via tearing a package comparable to eating a cookie or not. This is your comparison to make. Any logical person would say that tearing a package is more a derech mechika than chewing it.

I'm not saying it's not derech mechika, I'm saying it's not a psik reisha.

Perhaps it differs from a cookie because you know which part of the cookie you're biting, whereas with a package, wherever it rips it rips. I'm not suggesting you can rip letters intentionally.

I don't understand the question. If you intentionally tore the letters, then it's not a davar she'eino miskaven, so psik reisha doesn't enter into it. So what halacha are you asking on? Is there a halacha that you can't try to tear avoiding the letters? Are you talking about where you tried tearing without hitting the letters, and you ended up hitting the letters?

Fine, I'm not the one who brought up nets. With a net you are just scooping them all up.
With a line, you do reel them in also. But my question was because you give the fish slack to pull away to get hooked.. so the fish are pulling on the line together.

Not sure what you are saying.

As I understand it, the lav is to use two minim together to pull a load, or do a task.  There is no comparison between a bunch of fish in a net to this.
On the other hand, two fish pulling on a line together for my benefit is definitely comparable.
