AFAIK a lot chabad rabbinim hold canvas sukkahs are problematic. Makes it hard on cholie moed as almost all places that advertise a sukkah have a canvas one and chabad does not drink out of the sukkah. Carful planing is needed to got on a longer trip.

Imo the issue is having real walls that dont sway and move.
I never heard against the canvas sukah.

you do realize the canvas sukkah walls move and made of flimsy material ?
If I was not clear, they don’t have the straps and many times they don’t Velcro the bottom or middle.

Canvas or fabric walls are not ideal, as they flap in the wind. Even if “Lavud straps” are used, they may loosen without anyone noticing. If such walls are used, one should constantly ensure that the “Lavud straps” are tight, and that they surround the Sukkah on all four sides, and not just three.

Even if they are secure enough that the wind will not dislodge them, if they sway they are not considered to be walls.

People placing the schach rolls to run directly on the canvas sukkah frame, without any wooden cross beams? AFAIK that would be a maamid, not a maamid d'maamid. According to the Cazon Ish even cross wooden beams wouldn't help. Unless we aren't talking of the same scenario.

Many (all?) Chazon ish sukkas use pegs to hold everything together instead of metal screws

If you use something that grows from the ground it's definitely not an issue. For example you can use lulav leaves.

Metal rods are installed on porch like a cabana, I loop cable ties along them, then hang single bamboo on both sides suspending in the cables, then place schach in the other direction being supported by the hanging bamboo's

it’s only a safety issue if I am in the sukkah.
It is a heavy metal porch roof that is lifted up but I need to add a bolt to properly Secure it so it does not fall down if it gets windy. If it falls it may collapse the frame it is on.
