I was thinking that he technically should be be saying kiddush of friday night, as he doesn't stay up for the Friday night meal. Never heard that done though. Anyone have a reason why not?

I think the question with a child would be if his chinuch should be based off of what he would need to do in this situation (saying the friday night kiddush by day), or if it should based off of what he would normally do as an adult (saying day kiddush by day because he would be awake at night to say the night kiddush).

Apparently my father held the latter...
But either way we'd have to explain to the child that they're saying night Kiddush because they missed it and not simply allow them to proceed in error

My recollection is that chinuch does not create tashlumin for something not done at the proper time. I think this is discussed regarding havdala, but I would need to look this up. I am unsure about this.

I never heard not to feed a 6 yr old before kiddush or require him to make kiddush on his own. Pretty clear halachically that a child of that age is allowed to eat.

He's allowed to eat before kiddush. My kids like to make their own kiddush by the seuda for fun. One day ill be mechanech them how it's supposed to be done ברוב עם

While I understand the sentiment, IMHO a dislike button is like shaking a lady's hands (though maybe slightly less scary). R' Moshe (as far as I can recall) says it is basically either muttar lechatchila (at least in theory) or yehoreg v'al yaavor, depending on the daas of the male doing the shaking.
