What if a store offers a discount to Mets fans. All you have to do to get the discount is say you're such? Is it gneiva for a Yankees fan to avail himself to the discount?

These are assumptions, and I'm guessing any psak l'heter is thinking along these lines. The reality is more likely that the insurance companies allow you to select it online, but would actually follow up for documentation (like DL showing x) before reducing your bill. What that documentation is may vary, but I'd be shocked if the entire requirement was this is how I identify, even though I can't prove that in any concrete way other than declaring it so by selecting the x option.

Rabbi Berkovits immediately said, "No way. Chillul Hashem." The other posek I spoke to (the sgan Rav under RBs) thinks it wouldn't be a chillul Hashem, and holds as a dovor poshut that R' Berkovits has no problem with the emes/gzeila aspects of the problem. IMHO no.

The vast majority of achronim hold that the 3 opinions of what constitutes PHB disagree with each other. This demonstrates that it does not suffice for bread to be “made for snack” to become PHB,. Rather, there needs to be something inherent in its makeup that marks it as such.

As to what that is we have 3 opinions, and as long as one of them is not met it defaults to Hamotzey.

there is no rayah at all from mirkachas, bec that is not able to be eaten in big quantities but something that could be eaten in quantity is hamotzi

i am just quoting the only place in shulchan aruch, as far as i am aware, that straight bread is mezonos
so not sure why challa baked for desert purpose is mezons
