What’s p’shat in the rock in sink during kashering ? Is that required halachically or a minhag ?

Some achronim hold that it (original scenario is table or counter) needs to be kashered by kli rishon due to solid hit food (kli rishon) falling on it. The rock (even meluban) turns the hot water being poured to a kli rishon
