How long and how hot to blowtourch a sink?

depends on many variables.
Are trying to achieve yad soledes or Kash nisraf.... depends on the air temp...I recommend using a temperature indicator stick

Since when does a sink need libun? Our rov said it doesnt even need a hot stone. Stainless sink that is. He said boiling water is enough if you are using an insert.

If you say so. I think the chance of damaging the seal on the drain, and the seal around the edges are greater with a torch, no matter the proficiency.

We do bleach and boiling water. But I believe it's an extra since we have the insert

Oh, correct. Our Rov also said if the drain in the insert and the drain itself are offset its not such an issue. But as a default of course you should kasher. How would you kasher that with a torch though? Still need bleach or hot water.

For the drain, yes

If you hold bleach is necessary (not sure anyone argues that it's not), it seems like it would be necessary no matter what - insert or no insert, hagala or libun.

How hot is Kash nisraf?

been doing this for many years with no issues. Also, for anyone who is somewhat handy, fixing the seals is no big deal. The first year I ever Kashered with a torch, I Kashered the pull down hose on someone sink with a torch, stupidly assuming it was mean steel. Ran out to HD and replaced it within a half hour.

It's pretty much a physics problem. I guess something with a long spout can work.. I don't have one.

But I'm still not clear how long and hot to do it with a blowtorch....

I use an 8 quart pot. I pour out a large amount of hot water and it seems to hit the sides of the sink directly pretty easily. Takes a couple of potfuls to ensure that I hit every spot.

if i'm makpid not to sell chumetz gamur can i sell distilled vinegar and stuff like mayonnaise, sour pickle etc. that contain vinegar?
