You aren't supposed to take haircuts or cut nails on motzie shabbos unless they did so on Friday as well. Otherwise it's considered "bizuy shabbos" .

would a taus akum apply to a gift card or to points?

when u walk into a store and u pay with a 10 and they give u change as if u paid with a 20, they gave u the actual money.
when they make a mistake and credit you points or send a you a gift card by mistake, you dont have their money rather you have a cash value. meaning if i just dont use thier gift card or just dont use thier points, then I am technically giving them the cash value back....or maybe it was never mine till i use it....so who says i am allowed to keep it and use it in such a case???

im asking bec amex screwed up and gave me 30k extra marriot bonvoy points (their error) and bed bath and beyond screwed up and sent me a gift card for 150 that i still dont understand why they sent it to me....

not sure if this is even a question, so i dont want to sit and explain it to a rav if its just a random boich sevara of mine.......

Err...isn't that stealing? The terms of your agreement with the library is a borrowing. The payment for the book is only if you lost it, damaged it, or...stole it.

This is classic Taos Akum.

I would even argue that in this case you can surely keep it even more than in a case at a register in a store. Since in that case the person behind the register would remember you and also it is clear that you are Jewish, therefore, if you returned the money it would be a Kiddish Hashem whereas by BBB or Marriott you would be calling them and there would be no Kiddish Hashem in returning it and telling them about the mistake.

That is pure speculation. Also, even if they are planning on getting rid of them, one doesn't have the right to take someone else's belongings just because it will eventually become ownerless.
