What was the reason behind Rav Kanievsky zt”l minhag to wear a shtreimel a few times a year ?
The Steipler also wore a shtreimel, he was born to a chasidish family.
His shver Rav Elyashiv wore one like the minhag Yerushalayim even for Litvaks, like Reb Shlomo Zalmen etc.

But he only wore it a few times end of Yom Tov.

Only end of Yom Tov? I heard he kept the shtreimel wearing for YT, and from the link above it seems he wore it for seudas YT.

Last 2 years I've been using an electric urn and kettle while plugged in. I wait till it's literally boiling and pour, without plugging in. The kettle is small, but works great for sink walls, faucets, etc, while the urn is much bigger and makes quicker work of the flat surfaces. I was told it's probably at least as good as even m'luban.
Just went back to do a little chazara on the last time pesach kashering was discussed. For some reason I decided this year to fill the sinks with hot water and use an even mluban to kasher. I don't know whether there are poskim that hold that this is halachically better than the method I described above, but having tried both, for me at least I think I'm much more comfortable that I'm doing it 'right' with the method above than with the even mluban. I think maybe the immersion heater might be a good idea, but I would still need the kettles for counter rim and top inch or two, since I wouldn't want to fill to the lip and risk degrading the sealant that helps hold it up. Plus it seems like ready-made solutions aren't exactly cheap.

It sounds like you are dealing with an under counter sink. DO NOT fill it or use an immersion heater. It is common for the clips to fail and the whole sink full of boiling water pours out on whoever is nearby.

Much less of a shaila בבשר נבילה. The דגול מרבבה is of the opinion that there is no איסור הנאה בבו׳׳ח בבשר נבילה. There are cholkim but that's good enough not to wear a nose clip when passing by a treif eatery.

He talks of deliberately making parnasah of it, going into such a place with no intention whatsoever to enjoy the smell would likely be even easier.

Smell is much easier. I don't remember the mareh makom right now unfortunately, but iirc it's a Pischei Teshuva that it has no din of hanoah.

ETA: In ק"ח.

True, although the Shach holds it is a problem even בדבר שאין עיקרו עומד לריח, contemporary sefrei halacha agree that without any intention to smell one is allowed to enter such a place even for chometz b'Pesach.

The notion that  משיח has to come by year 6,000 is well known based off the famous Gemara... But I've always heard בשם ר' יעקב קמנצקי that he says it doesn't necessarily have to come by then...
I personally have never come across any source that explicitly says this... I also wonder if thats been the accepted view why did he see it necessary to even state that it may not come by 6000.. is it cuz he was concerned that if 6000 comes and mashiach isn't here then ppl will not believe in chazal??
Anyone know of any sources that explicitly say such a thing?

Deff would not call that a clear source lol, all he says is that you can't give a time for him... I never saw the 6000 deadline as a "זמן" for mashiach rather the Gemara says that's the end of the world and so I believe it's more of a side point that mashiach wud have to come b4 the end of times... He deff won't come after the world ends.. right?
Do you know how Rambam interprets the Gemara of ר' קטינא?

Watch the last 15-20 minutes of last weeks chumash shiur (before they left it streaming nothing for an hour). I don't think he brings a source, but says 200 years before the year 6000.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I am planning on giving a shiur to teenagers over shavuos about how to be a gabbai. Part of it would include comparing/contrasting the luach of different customs. So far, I will probably compare some dates in Ezras Torah and Luach Colel Chabad. I am wondering if there are any others out there I should be including? Is there a Luach (or 2,3?) for the Eidot Mizrach Communities? Other Chasidish Communities?
