Delayed on the plane for 4hr

My brother his wife and 3 kids youngest not even 2 months are on the flight 027 from tlv to ewr that was supposed to leave 12:35 and is delayed for 3hr 55min the AC broke and they can't fly till 4:30 if they get off the flight not sure they will be able to get back on and flights are over booked this week so stuck on the plane and very hot!! Now the questions is what can they do in regard to compensation they paid for the flight using some Citibank card they did buy on Amex platinum some baggage coverage up to $1000. el al announced they won't get anything from them being that mechanical and a law that u can't fly bet 2:30-4:30 so now what should they do? Thanks for all the help in advance!!

How tactful of them to announce it during the delay!

My mom had a similar situation, she got delayed for 13 hrs. . But it was delta and it was engine issues. I didnt get back yet to start with the whole condensation thing yet.

I’m digging up this thread bc of the topic name but I hope I don’t sit here for 4 hours but it’s close..

On tlv-ist flight so far 3 and half hrs delayed. We boarded and they said they need to refuel. I don’t know if that means they’re going right now to mine the oil bc it’s taking a gosh darn long time.

What are the procedures/laws I should know about? Like is there a certain amount of time we wait on the plane before it’s unlawful and we get reimbursed or something?is there a clock ticking for the flight attendants to clock out and our flight is cancelled?

Never had experience like this so looking for some

flight took off soon after posting. I’m still interested in the protocols how long they can allow us to sit on the plane?
