help planning my parents get-away...
« on: November 13, 2011, 06:44:36 AM »
My siblings and i wanna send my parents for their 30th anniversary and 50th bdays to europe. My moms dying to go, and my dad will just have to drag along... All i got out from my mother is that she wants to go to italy... didnt get much more than that. She loves to paint and  loves just walking the streets. I was thinking about feb time- but is that freezing in europe than? is it better to wait till after pesach? As of now were not sure how were sending them or if were using points or cash.. They only have continental points- and about 50k together... the rest were splurging. I was thinking of tlv-paris sun-tues -vienna tues-thurs  and drive to venice for shabbos, and leave mon morning back to tlv. (tickets in feb for exactly what i want are 656$ i feel like thats a good price..?) Are these places of the nicest places to go? anyone have any better options? i would love to hear!! I have spg, continental, priority club, hyatt, AA, Amex points- so i would love to hear hotel ideas around there... I feel that for venice for shabbos they should stay around chabad- cus i cant imagine them doing the walk from the westin (it took us over 3 hours) to chabad... so any hotel ideas around chabad for shabbos in venice. and in austria around the jewish quarters- cus i dont think my dad would be fond of missing minyan... and paris i think im considering giving them my free hyatt nights... i would love to hear ideas!! pls help me out!! (and were on a small budget!!!) thnks alot!!

It's most likely gonna be cold in Paris, Venice and Vienna in February, so it's kind of your call whether you could/want to handle/enjoy the trip during the winter.  Are these the nicest places in Europe? If your looking for art and nice architecture your in the right direction, but you know that there's more to Italy than just Venice i.e. Florence, Rome, and of course the lakes.

I spent a year in Italy and I've been to a bunch of Euoropean contries, so if you need something specific let me know.

The most beautiful place I've been to in Europe was Zermatt, Switzerland. For me it was the snowboarding that was awesome, but the scenery is unreal - one of the most beautiful places in the world. The only thing is that if you don't ski/board it may be boring.

Europe in May will be much nicer than in February.

I think pick 2 places so that they don't have to rent a car and drive anywhere.  A stopover and a destination on a mileage ticket.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

i feel like with a mileage ticket its not saving any money... whats pricing on kayak for 565 is pricing on continental for 35k plus 166$.... pls tell me if there is a better way...? but i hear the idea of just 2 places- i think its a better idea honestly... so i guess paris and sumthing in italy... and im looking around feb and may time- and will give them the option on when they wanna go... thanks for ur help

It's an Island. You fly into Rome (which sounds like would be a great place for your parents anyway) Take a train to Napoli, and a boat onto the Island
