Alitalia - Lost Luggage?
« on: January 16, 2020, 03:58:20 AM »
Bought a ticket for dad from Israel to NY for two weeks from now, flying Alitalia with stopover in Rome (recent special on DDMS). Did search re Alitalia for something else entirely & came across more than one post stating that "Alitalia is notorious for losing bags". Can anyone please verify? Dad may be traveling with a valuable or two.

Thanks, your replies are appreciated.

Don’t pack valuables in checked bags, they could get lost or stolen If they’re higher value than typical items expected to be in your luggage, I don’t think you’d get reimbursed by any airline or travel insurance policy, let alone Alitalia.

Typically he would put them in his carry on but in this case he may not have room for some of it (lg item or two) and may need to put in checked bag, hence the question. Anyone else had a personal experience with Alitalia good or bad that cares to chime in?

Flown several times with short and long connections never any problems (to my dismay :-) )
I think many people use the term lost luggage to include delayed bags, which, while inconvenient, is not the dame concern
