My wife had the same situation and was approved for the Chase Saphire preferred after 6 months of a secure cc. The initial credit line was small but its definitely a great start. I do have a chase checking account so not sure if that helped her application

Unless she's a joint account-holder on your checking account, how would they even know?

I don't think Chase checking accounts help AFAIK, not unless you have a banker put in a good word on your behalf. She is eligible for Chase exclusives on the Freedom and Ink cards though.

How would he do that? Does he put a note on my account or do I ask him to call for me?

I've heard of different bankers doing it different ways if you have $10k in a Chase acct ask a banker in a branch if he can help you push through an app.

i seem to recall seeing something around here somewhere recently re: a chase checking account that required a min. balance of $500 to avoid monthly fees, but now i cant find less than 1,500.

Does / did the $500 min checking account exist, or am i dreaming?
