Samsung S11/20
« on: January 20, 2020, 02:31:00 PM »
New Samsung Galaxy is being released Feb 11th. Do the older versions (S9, S10 ) generally go on sale prior to the release of the new phone version or after?

Will definitely be cheaper after. Why would you think before?

Dunno. Get rid of the old stock I guess. Personally have a S7 which is 4 years old so looking for a new phone and def don't need the newest model

S7 is a BAD device, you'll so much appreciate even the S8. I don't see a difference between the S8 and S10e I have now.

Unfortunately it looks like they won't be releasing a "E" version this time around. I really hate big phones.

I could be mistaken, but I imagine that there would be a drop in price within a few days of the launch. Simply because the demand isn't there, and the new inventory would be competing with people selling their older phones to get the new one (i.e. the availability of second-hand items, may also cause a drop in the price of new stock).

S8 can be very buggy at times thats where I see the biggest difference between the s8 and s9

They are on sale and have been for a few weeks. I see almost daily posts from various deal sites advertising cheap s8/9/10 devices.

S8 and S9 are very similar, while the S9 has a better camera and that's about it.
I find that those two phones are very prone to a screenburn for some odd reason. Not sure why.

But both are amazing phones coming off from a S7 which is garbage compared to those.. onto a new level.
Even the moto X4 which I picked up from when they were on sale buy one get one, kicks the s7.

1) If I really don't use the camera on my phone much (S8), is there any other significant benefit in the S20 over the S10 to make it worth the premium?

2) All major stores (Amazon, Samsung, BH, BestBuy) are selling the S10 now for $749. But on eBay, it seems to be available (brand new) for $300 less (when you include the Ebay 10% off promo). Is there any catch I'm missing?

Unlocked S20 is too a general question. What's the specific model number?

The reason why it wouldn't work would be that it doesn't have physically built in the technologies/bands needed for Spring service. There are very few devices out there that can work on just about any carrier (or at least any US carrier) with full normal service.

Seems there are several models like 985f and 986u, maybe this has to do?

Yes, those are the model numbers I was asking you about. Every model is different.

The one in your link is the SM-G985F/DS (DS is for Dual SIM) which is an international model and therefore doesn't have CDMA support (see https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/1NpRIWL/samsung-sm-g985f-ds-galaxy-s20-global-dual-sim-td-lte-128gb-galaxy-s11-samsung-hubble-1/united-states)

Didn't see that model.

The SM-G986U seems to be the Unlocked North American Variant which will support all US carriers including CDMA networks: https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/phones/galaxy-s/galaxy-s20-plus-5g-128gb-unlocked-sm-g986ulbaxaa/
