Flying to Israel using AA
« on: November 13, 2011, 11:11:36 PM »
I know this has been discussed numerous times..and have tried to read most of the posts..but as a very not savvy person can someone tell me who (as in travel agent or AA direct) can help me book award flights to Israel using my 300k+ points?  Also how far in advance do these have to be booked?  Thanks

Maybe someone can help me, My sister is making a reservation for 2 people from NY to Tel Aviv with a stopover in  Paris, it's costing her 85,000 miles for each ticket (thats 170, 000 for both) she's 14,000 miles short, is there any way that I can transfer her 14,000 miles from my account.(or any other idea how to make up the miles) (she has to make the reservation this week so there is no time to open a CC or spend the amount of money to recieve the miles).
Thanks

If you have the same lastname on the accounts you can try to transfer from your SPG to her AA. YMMV.

I don't have SPG miles only AA (is it 85,000 miles and not 75,000 miles since they are making a stop in Paris, and if yes is there anyway aound it not to call it a stopover).
Thanks

AA either charges 80K to Israel off-peak via Europe, or 90K nonstop or via Europe during peak season.
I'm not familiar with an 85K award.

Yes, the rate should be 80K miles.

The reason it's 85,000 is because on the way home it's a direct flight.

Gotcha.  Save 5K miles and take a stopover and see another city?
