Prescription drug savings program
« on: January 24, 2020, 03:34:13 PM »
Any recommendations, or do they all offer the same discounts?

Do they reduce the price by anything worthwhile?

And just curious how do they make money?

GoodRx seems to work very well - even things covered by my insurance, the cost can be less than the copay. I've seen meds that people I know were told would cost $700/month (without insurance), cost $60/month with the coupon for GoodRx.

+1 goodrx can be a lot less than a local pharmacy. They give you a choice of places to go rite aid usually has good prices, but not necessarily the lowest

I just looked up on the goodrx website. I didn't know you can check what discounts they offer.

The prescription I was looking for costs ~$48 at CVS and they had a coupon for $23 at cvs and even cheaper at other pharmacies. I'm pretty impressed. Just have to figure out how to apply their coupon.

Just show it to pharmacist, there is also an app.

Goodrx gold might be worth it for some, for $6 a month you get even bigger discounts, check the gold price before signing up

I used GoodRx today on a prescription my insurance doesn't cover and got it for an absolute bargain. To echo a comment above, Rite Aid had the best price by $10. All I had to do was pull it up on my phone. The pharmacist even coached me on how playing with the number of tablets can bring the price down further. For example, a 90 day rx cost $15 while an 83 day rx cost $11.
