Agreed. Maybe I'm just going to the wrong islands though.

From open intelligence It seems you are going to the wrong ones

I did the USVI particularly St John it was incredible
Going to do Barbados or saint Lucia also seem beautiful

Yup. Did the Bahamas to avoid Zika.

I looked into it and found Aruba to have a very low Zika risk as well and found no corroborating evidence from the CDC that it was any different than Bahamas (both purple on very useless map).

Marriott raising the category of the Renaissance so will not be bookable with CC after 3/3.

Doeant surprise me given that paid rates average over $500/night but does sting nonetheless.

Other than the CDC saying the Bahamas were in the clear?

Source?

I see  this message for Bahamas:
"We do not have accurate information on the current level of risk. There may be delays in detection and reporting of new outbreaks.
Because Zika is a cause of severe birth defects, CDC recommends pregnant women and couples trying to become pregnant within the next 3 months work with their health care providers to carefully consider the risks and possible consequences of travel to areas with risk of Zika."

Whereas no such notice is posted for Aruba:

Has anyone been to the Ritz Carlton in Aruba, is it a nice Ritz, rooms nice, good service, nice balcony etc?
Also, are you able to find private beaches to go swimming separately, near the Ritz or elsewhere on the island?
If I don't stay in the Renaissance is it worth paying the money to get a day pass to go to Flamingo Beach and can you find a private beach there?
Has anyone been there lately and are there things to do?
Lastly, if I would be getting in Sunday afternoon, would you recommend leaving Wednesday or Thursday afternoon?
If we are more the doer type is there what to do in Aruba or more just hanging out on the beach?
How much time can you spend exploring the island if we rent a car, is there a lot to see?
I would appreciate any info anyone can supply.
Thanks.

Yup. Did the Bahamas to avoid Zika.
Is Zika still a concern for you?
