I stand corrected. I should not have written “reason”. He did indeed stress multiple times that he is not giving a reason. What he did say is “Hashem showed us a little lesson”...  Kobe’s mentality was “It’s me. I can do whatever I want and no one is getting in my way.” .... “Hashem sometimes says I’m going to show you who controls that helicopter”.
