I'm sure China is playing with the numbers, but if hundreds of thousands were dying in Beijing, I'm assuming one way or the other it would leak.
Therefore, I'm inclined to think that is not the case in Beijing.

Its a pretty safe bet that China doesn't report accurate numbers. But while they can lie about the scale and report 3,000 deaths instead of 10,000 - its not possible for them to lie about the end of the crisis. If people were still actually contjnuing to get sick in China now there is no way that they could be reporting the new case count at nearly 0 as they are now doing.

So even though we don't have a good sense of how many people were infected/died, we do have a very clear and reliable timeline for start to spread to end.

Yes it shows how little we understand about the virus. It seems to hit an epicenter hard and much less everywhere else. Italy is also experiencing that, more than half of the deaths are clustered (Lombardy) and the US is also emerging that way (New York tristate).

I dont find it hard to believe that China isn't sharing its data with us, but to reiterate- they can't succeed in pretending that cases have stopped if its actually still ongoing. So we know timelines and geocentricity even if nothing else.

I've heard doctors saying that for some cars even a cpap could be helpful and that they used them for some more mild cases to pen up ventilators

What’s IVIG?  And what does “it wont be quick” mean?

If people who had mild/asymptotic infections have the same antibodies, we need to be testing such people as well?

IVIG is the combined plasma treatment. In general it takes about 7 months to make in a regular situation although supposedly there are ways to speed it up. And it is def better to use IVIG that would come from recovered patients if they could figure out exactly how to target it vs standard IVIG but that will take even longer.

not a DR or Scientist just an investor in a different company in this space from before COVID even showed up so my understanding/explanation may not be perfect.

Adding in that there is another type of plasma usage called convalescent plasma where its pooled but not processed the same way as ivig. Much faster but generally less effective is my understanding. However it might be a good option here

Mask have greatly improved the last few years. Had to go shopping this morning and wore a N95 3M mask. Very little restriction to breathing and perfect fit. The only issue since there is no exhale valve is they do get warm. Moisture will be apparent if you wear it for any extended period of time.

I wonder what would be done if c"v such a thing happened here. I can't imagine they would be so cruel, but on the other hand, how would they prevent the disease from spreading? Maybe over here it would be caught earlier and not covered up like it seems to have been in China and that would prevent it from becoming such a serious issue in the first place, but that may not always be reliable.

Possible that NY is doing much more testing so they are counting more less severe cases.
