If we are testing more and more shouldn't we see a decrease in the fatality rate?
I believe it has dropped a little. We're right about 3%, where previously we were a bit over 3.5%. Also, there are a couple of factors to consider:
A) Until now, the majority of the deaths were shorter illness lengths (~ 1-2 weeks). Now, you're seeing the deaths for those who were sick for a while, on top of the deaths for those with shorter illnesses.
b) The hospitals are more crowded, so there's a good chance the quality of care is dropping, leading to a higher mortality rate.
