And yet, 40K people die every year in the USA from car accidents.
The point being, that as a society we've accepted that the benefits of being able to drive in cars outweigh the cost.
Nobody is disputing that from an economic standpoint society accepts a certain amount of death once they reach a certain economic cost. This is a complicated and lengthy discussion that is fundamental to economic theory in government, and boils down to what is the price of a life. Interestingly, it seems many people who think the lockdown should end and thought it should never start never heard of this or many economic basics until now, and think it’s some type of epiphany.
All that said, comparing this pandemic to driving is hugely erroneous. You can search “car accidents” on this board and you’ll see some of the many reasons.
