I got excited until I actually read up on the study. They didn't give the drug to anyone with cardiac issues. Well, when one half of your study has a hugely significant comorbidity like cardiac issues, and the other half doesn't, maybe it's not the drug that kept the fatality rate low. Maybe it's that they didn't have a friggin cardiac issue.

Doesn’t this mean they accounted for cardiac and other variables. Do you think the study authors would miss something so basic as propensity scoring?

ALOL when I read this. He predicted less than 10,000 total deaths. The models the US administration used predicted 100K-240K through August. NONE predicted “40 million deaths”. What exactly did he accurately predict? That mandated temporary unemployment would result in temporary unemployment? Gee, glad to see this guy earned his degree somewhere.

Was cool to see how he was also the “researcher” behind the infamous Santa Clara early antibodies study which turned out to be total bunk and is to date by far the greatest overestimation of antibodies seroprevalence conducted. This is your hero? Choose more wisely next time.

Seems pretty clear that the driver is indoor/outdoor - so southern states did well in spring, but not so well in summer with oppressive heat driving people indoors. And the opposite for northern states

It was pretty cold in NY in March.

In addition to the indoor/outdoor thing, those states are also have the lowest population density. In some of them you'd have to drive for miles in order to not social distance.

And one of the first people I knew that had COVID-19 in Crown Heights was a lady in her 80s. (Very mild, fully recovered).
