I agree with this, except not everyone can get vaccinated yet, specifically kids. Until we figure out a way to keep kids from getting infected, schools need to use whatever tools they can, IMO.
If *everyone* currently eligible was vaccinated there is a big chance that it would not be necessary.

Maybe, but that's not even remotely realistic. Just the world we live in.

Please count the people who had covid as if vaccinated.
And the people who had covid twice as if vaccinated twice.

Please count the people who had covid as if vaccinated.
Let's say they count anywhere between 0.5-.08 because of the range of how long ago they had it, how low their antibodies may be, etc.
And the people who had covid twice as if vaccinated twice.
Lol! Awesome.

Can't wait to see what mRNA will cure next and the pretzels people will make on why not to take them...
This. We may come to remember 2020 as a turning point in modern medicine like the discovery of antibiotics 150 years ago.

In what world does Fauci have a right to weigh in on how India should handle their Covid crisis?

You been out of the US too long? We think we have the right to tell everybody how to do everything. It's the American way.

True. No signs of schools dropping mask requirements locally, though the plexiglass on desks was removed.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

This article mentions that plexiglass makes things worse because it inhibits air circulation.

And the people who had covid twice as if vaccinated twice.
Cases of reinfection with COVID-19 have been reported, but remain rare.
A Dutch study found the reinfection rate to be .65%, but it's hard to give a number, because cases are often too mild to be reported.

The efficacy of 2 doses of both Moderna  and Pfizer is over 95%.  So up to 5% of people who got vaxed may get covid, but they found less than 1% need hospitalization.
The efficacy of the J&J is around 80%. So the chance of infection after vaxxing is even greater.

So lets count having had covid as protective as having been vaccinated.

I am fine with that as long as we define "having COVID" as having tested positive for COVID or antibodies and not the "exposed" stupidity.

Absolutely!  Some sort of definitive knowledge of actually having had covid.
Testing positive for it, having had antibodies at some point for it, etc.

I have a neighbor that refuses to get vaccinated because she felt very sick in the summer (2020) for about a week - but never tested for covid or antibodies. I'm afraid this is more common...

Our school in Hollywood, FL never had plexiglass on student desks. Effective this week, students no longer have to wear masks outdoors, though masks are still required indoors.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/to-beat-side-effects-israel-considers-giving-teens-just-1-covid-vaccine-dose/

Quote
As US probes possible link between immunization and mostly mild heart problem, proposed compromise seen as way to dodge the risk while retaining shot’s effectiveness
.......
In Israel, an April Health Ministry report into the side effects of the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine raised concerns of a possible link between the second shot and several dozen cases of myocarditis.
.......
But sources familiar with vaccination policymaking told The Times of Israel that a switch to a one-shot protocol is likely, as the cases of myocarditis are believed to have occurred almost exclusively after young people received their second vaccine dose.

Curious if anyone has seen efficacy data from the trials for one shot. I'm considering delaying the second shot until after the summer for my kid.
