Data out of Israel showed that in a very specific demographic the risk from the second shot of Pfizer may be closer to one in ten thousand (.01%, or 0.0001). From the first shot it’s orders of magnitude less if it exists at all.

Inconvenient, and I'm too busy now to be sick for a day or two after. Also, if I wait, I'll get a free house and car and beer from the government.

Kind of like going out into a lightning storm. The odds of being struck are minimal but if there is little need to venture out why do it. My relative in Bnei Brak was likely one of those minuscule numbers. Young avreich who died suddenly shortly after the second shot. Still quite minuscule risk overall.

So if I have a recent antibody test showing a high level of antibodies, I should not be hard-pressed to get the vaccine?

IIRC, you had covid much more recently than most, so perhaps you're still within the 7-8 months when reinfections are extremely rare so could wait.  On the other hand, you've said that you're in a high risk group, and at one point it seemed you might have eaten everything in the refrigerator leaving only a grape and a slice of cheese  so that would be more of a reason to get it sooner rather than later.  Also, there's the question of whether shuls will require it, which I expect would be unlikely in Lakewood.

Despite more than 70% of adults and 90% of those 65+ currently vaccinated in the US, more than 90% of cases and 95% of hospitalizations and deaths are occurring among the unvaccinated.  That means that 30% of the population (and 10% of those 65+) are responsible for 90% of the spread and 95% of the hospitalizations and deaths. This couldn’t be more blatant.

This is now truly a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

I suspect the US is the opposite of Israel and Europe in the sense that it's the older, more overweight, and less cautious Republicans who aren't getting vaccinated, making the vaccine look more effective than it is because the vaccinated demographic is actually lower risk.

Fair point. However, the fact that Texas is vaccinated at a far lower rate than Israel in general will also skew the numbers to be more lopsided, as noted upthread. In Texas the virus can kill 60% of the population (unvaccinated) at the same rate as the virus can kill 20% of the Israeli population (unvaccinated).

Also, I think you’re underestimating just how many older Americans are vaccinated.. the CDC says more than 90% of the 65+ are fully vaccinated.

Aren't blacks the highest unvaccinated demographic?  They're usually  not Republicans.
