It is understandable they would want to weigh the more limited upside of the vaccine against the possible downsides. Same thing for the discussion in the mask thread about masking kids. Even if we agree that masking can help slow the diminish the spread, we want to weigh those benefits against the downsides of masking kids.

The recent report we have been talking about says in one part the chance of being re-infected for who had the virus vs someone who had the virus + shot is practically nothing. If those figures are correct then the downside would out weight the upside so no shot needed.

Now your position with regards to masks for preschoolers is solid.

Since you don't want to answer this question I will do it for you. It is impossible to get out of bed without taking risks. We weight what those risks are and proceed from there.

I believe it's close to 80% vaxxed. (Or at least I think that's what I saw being thrown around as pushback to Fauci's measles comments.)

ETA: Per Rockland county dashboard, 70% of the population age 12 and over had at least one shot. The 80% number may have been adults.

Which vaccine? I have a close family member who's an eye doctor - I'll ask him what he's hearing.

Ask him what he's seeing. Hearing loss is a different issue. (I know of one case of hearing loss in one ear that still hasn't returned after 6 months+)
