Do you think such an approach might incentivize people to contract the virus?
Possibly. There was a time when people tried to get their kids to contract chicken pox, so that they should acquire imunity and not get it when older, as it was generally a lot less severe for children than it is for adults.
ETA: In Crown Heights, when the extent of the spread was obvious right after Purim, a highly respected medical professional in the community had initially opposed school and shul closings, arguing that since it's unstoppable, it's better if the entire community gets it early, while hospital beds are still available for the few that will require hospitalization, rather than contracting it later at a time when it is more widespread citywide, and hospital beds might not be available.
