We’re at over 200K cases today and rising, 100K hospitalized and rising, 2,800 dead today and rising.

This is just the flu. Don’t worry.

(Even though more people have died *today* with COVID on their death certificate than die most *years* with the flu listed on their death certificate).

And here we thought (at least I did) that hospitals were doing a much better job at treating this disease. I'm definitely having second thoughts. They really don't have a handle on this and doesn't look like they will any time soon.

Let's hope that with Hashem's help the vaccine will be effective. But the death rate still needs to drop drastically until then. Its insane.

ETA: Is it possible that the current strain going around is perhaps more deadly? Just a thought that could be a possibility based on what we've experienced over the past ~9 months. But I might be totally off target. Just thinking out loud.

Even so. Of course I wouldn't realistically expect there to be close to zero deaths (although it would certainly be welcome news), I just wouldn't expect it to keep climbing like this either.

How many people are there out there who personally don't know someone who unfortunately died from Covid that can say with a full heart that its a hoax?

Unfortunately, I doubt there are too many. Not with the number of deaths we have. I find it very hard to believe that anyone would still think its a joke by now. But maybe I'm the ostrich.

They don't believe its a hoax at all. They believe that many or most had it and have antibodies. And that high risk people should take precautions especially if they don't have antibodies. And I know people who are still missing close relatives weddings because of that.

This can be argued ad nauseum as there's no way to prove anything with data so please let's not. If you believe they all think its a joke then let's just agree to disagree .

We haven't peaked yet, but I think we'll peak a little before Xmas. I think we'll top out at a week or two of 250k cases a day. The deaths and hospitalizations will unfortunately take more time to peak, with death counts only starting to go back down in mid Feb.

Are the deaths in our community at the same level they were last spring? Not at all. Yes, people are still unfortunately dying but its still not the same as it was then. And no, I'm not waiting for it to ch"v be and I hope neither is anyone else.

Because of the lack of testing when we were first hit we will never really know just with how much vengeance we were hit with back then. But its so possible that the number of cases in our community should be multiplied many times over than the actual recorded count.

I meant data showing how many positive ppl attended each wedding or go to shul, how many with antibodies, how many got infected directly, how many indirectly, etc. I don't think we have that kind of data...
