So to be clear, your doomsday scenario is predicated on the fact that some people you know who have been vaccinated became ill? This might come as a shock, but we’ve known since the very earliest trials that there are a certain amount of breakthrough cases.. hence the push for more people to vaccinate.

At first, the CDC collected data on breakthrough cases, but changed to record only those cases that led to hospitalization and/or death.

As of today, they say that out of >150 million people vaccinated, there have been 4,115 breakthrough cases leading to hospitalization or death. 750 died, but 142 of those died of non-covid causes.

76% were 65 and older.

I was just sent an anti-vax clip by someone who has been very against the "experimental Covid vaccines." It brought some "serious" allegations of the aluminum in vaccines getting into the brain and causing a myriad of issues. The dumb*** who sent it to me, though, didn't realize that it had nothing to do with the Covid vax. It was talking about the standard vaccines we've been giving for 40+ years. Didn't stop them from buying it hook, line, and sinker. Mind you, this is a grown adult with adult children, who is purportedly very pro-vax and has vaccinated all their kids. As noted here before, the anti-Covid vax FUD may have serious ramifications well beyond Covid. Hashem yishmor.

The same way they calculate how many infections were prevented.
