Microsoft Office
« on: January 29, 2020, 07:18:58 AM »
I would like to install Microsoft Office on a new computer - I don't need 365 and would prefer a one-time cost. A few questions.
1. I have an old product key for Office 2007. I don't really have the need for a newer version - is there any way to use this? When I put the key in on Microsoft website I get an error
2. Is buying on ebay legit - how could the keys really cost $20? That being said, where do the keys come from?
3. What is the cheapest legit way to buy Office?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Just bought a 365 license on eBay from a Moroccan seller for $6. It seems like a student promo. The email address for the user can't be changed, but it seems like it's not a real email so nobody can make FORGOT PASSWORD. I wouldn't store in the one drive anything yet because I still need to check it out if they have no way of making FORGOT PASSWORD and get control of my account. But for Excel and word I'm good.

If you have a retail license you might be able to transfer it to the new machine. Follow the walkthrough from here -

Yup. Looks like an .edu trick or similar. Not sure. I changed password at first time login and my only concern left is that they can do FORGET PASSWORD and login to my account, so I'm not using the 5TB included in one drive.

Perhaps just buy a .edu email address next time:)

1. Microsoft stopped supporting that product so they don't have the installation files online anymore.
I personally also have a genuine office 2007 cd. I'll upload the files and share it. I don't know if it will work but can't hurt to try using your product key.

It's available for 15 days here
www.easyupload.io/q1wrkn

I might've messed up the files when I zipped it but unzip it and run the setup file.

2. Been discussed here and some other thread I forgot where. https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=59397.msg1946014#msg1946014

3. I don't know that's why I use Google docs and libreoffice/OpenOffice...

ETA I just realized the download site is limited to 400kb/second it'll take a few minutes...

I also bought Office for a similar price close to a year ago and it works perfectly. I don't save anything to the cloud so I don't have to worry about lost passwords.

They have an A+ rating from BBB https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/the-woodlands/profile/computer-hardware/indigo-software-0915-90048657 Always check BBB rating on companies you're unsure of!

What can be bad getting from eBay?
It's cheap enough to make it worthwhile.

Just check the seller ratings and see how many of that particular license they sold.

I personally have had a good experience with getting from eBay.

I personally have had a good experience with getting from eBay.
I just purchased an office key from eBay, The seller gives the following instructions:

"thank you for you perchase* and your trust and we hope you like our service

firstly you should downoload* the software  from this link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lCgNXnHHdEd-o1EYJNwxxwW0srBTIxSN/view?usp=sharing

after downolding* , open the file and chose your language and you version 32 bit or 64 bit

whatch* this vedeo*:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xFm8lyqp-UzlRYiFO6bP6fLyeCSEGThu/view?usp=sharing

and enter your code:

*****************

if you found any probleme* contact us and we will do our best for help you

if you like our service you don't forget give us a positive feedback

thank you

have a great day"

 * :o

Now, is this how it usually works? How can I know what I am about to download from that link?
I always assumed I would download office directly from Microsoft, and just enter the product key.
But when I try that I get a message that the key is for the volume license of office, which is not currently installed.

If anyone can help me out here.

To download MS Office with with a volume license, you need to log in to the volume licensing website. So my guess is that (assuming it's legit) they downloaded it to their computer and then uploaded it to google drive for whoever purchased. But who knows...
