Weird 2BM Outcome W/ Chase

I applied for the United (churn) and Freedom last week on the 7th and got denied for both. I called recon for the freedom first and they got it approved. Then I called for the United and got that approved as well. However, I received the rejection letter so I went to Experian and got a free credit report. I noticed a pull on the 13th (the day I called recon). It seems they froze the freedom app for security purposes as I applied for 2 cards at the same time. Got 2 pulls 

I tried to argue with Chase about it but they said you would have gotten 2 pulls on the 7th anyways. Little do they know.....

I did a 3BM last week and today I got an update from CreditKarma - only 1 pull from Chase.  All 3 apps came back pending, which in my case is always rejection.  Luckily I'm batting 100% with recon.  I'll let you know what happens after I get the rejection letters.

YMMV perhaps. For two identical pulls, I'd consider a dispute (if it's worth your time). You can try calling the bureau, for all you know they'll remove it for you without you having to write Chase.

You can try playing stupid and saying you submitted the app twice. That would fly with the bureau, more of an issue with Chase themselves, but you can try the same argument, provide an appID and pray .

I guess it would not hurt but it is almost impossible to get a CRA to remove an inquire these days.

It use to be real easy to get inquires removed from TU & EQ. Now when you dispute them it almost always come back that the inquire is “a matter of record” and the dispute is denied.

That is about the only way to get it remove. Never tried that and do not have any any data points on it.

I have gotten only one pull twice and Im sure so have many others . So they are entitled to be surprised
